Dr Elinor Dennison

Registered Principal Clinical Psychologist:
Bsc Joint Hons, DClinPsych

Having qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in Leeds in 2003, I returned home to the North East and took up a post with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Team in Northumberland. I quickly developed an interest in autism and worked with my team and wider agencies to develop our assessment and intervention pathways.

I have since held several posts, all within NHS services for children and young people within the North East. I have continued in this time to specialise in autism. I very much enjoy working with young people presenting with neurodevelopmental differences and their families, helping to ensure that their strengths as well as any difficulties are fully understood and supported.

I am a qualified ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) trainer and regularly contribute to running courses in this capacity. I also provide specialist supervision to a range of colleagues supporting them to develop understanding of autism and their clinical skills. I continue this work with the NHS alongside my role with Autism North East.
