Intervention

Interventions that we offer vary according to the outcome of assessment, and will be tailor-made to the requirements of individuals and families to ensure the best care and support.

We firstly recommend a specifically tailored 3 session post-diagnostic package to individuals, and to parents of children with ASD which includes the following:

Session 1: Understanding the Diagnosis

Session 2: How does ASD affect you or your child – understanding and analysing behaviour

Session 3: Support at home and school/college

For adults

Our post-diagnostic sessions are based around your own needs, but as a framework we include:

Session 1: Understanding the Diagnosis

Session 2: Understanding Stress in Relation to Areas of Difficulty

Session 3: Tailor made to individual need but can include:

  • Developing an Emotional Toolbox
  • Stress Relieving Strategies
  • Creation of an Autism Passport/provision of letters to employers or organisations

After each session you will be emailed with a write up summary of the session and copies of handouts discussed.

In addition any or all of the following can be offered:

  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy – Sensory Processing
  • Specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Wider help is also available:

  • Liaison with work/school/nursery
  • Opportunities to participate in behaviour and/or communication groups

Individual support and advice for:

  • Anxiety difficulties
  • Behavioural difficulties including aggression
  • Sleep issues
  • Continence/toileting
  • Relationship issues

We can also sign-post to other services if appropriate.

If a diagnosis is not indicated, we will explain in detail our conclusion and plan, in partnership with individuals and families, what intervention is suitable and evidence-based.

We are all senior clinicians who are very experienced in working with adults, children and young people with a wide range of difficulties, so we can then either offer intervention ourselves, or can refer on to other agencies as appropriate.

I feel better able to understand and give support to my daughter I think going forward this will only improve with the knowledge given.
