Dr Lucy Walker Haywood

Principal Chartered Clinical Psychologist:
CPsychol, DClinPsy, BSc (Hons)

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Leeds in 2001, following a first degree in psychology and time spent in the field of adult mental health services, child and adolescent mental health, learning disabilities and older adults.

I worked in the NHS for over 11 years in Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS – now known as CYPS), with a specific interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. I worked within the Specialist Team for the Assessment of ASD within the service and I was the lead Clinical Psychologist in the Specialist Team for the Assessment of ADHD, developing and conducting multi-disciplinary and multi-faceted assessments for both conditions.

I ultimately led the multi-disciplinary team for children with ASD in the service locality, conducting specific assessments with children and families. I am trained in Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) assessments and cognitive assessments using a range of specific instruments widely recognised for young people and adults.

My particular area of interest and specialism is in working with both children and adults with ASD and ADHD conducting assessments and offering post-diagnostic input for individuals and their families.

As Autism North East has grown as a service I have spent more of my time working alongside our Office Manager to make sure things run smoothly for our clients and also our clinicians.
