Consultant Clinical Psychologist (BSc, MSc, DClinPsy)
I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in 2001 and since that time I have worked with Children and Families Services (over the past 15 years specialising in ASD).
In addition to my role in Autism North East I work part time within the NHS in a second opinion autism assessment team. I also work as part of a team commissioned to reduce ASD waiting lists in an NHS Trust in London.
I am trained in a variety of assessment tools, for example the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS 2), am an accredited ADOS trainer, and am trained and experienced in running a number of ASD parent programmes:
- National Autistic Society – EarlyBird Plus and Health Minds
- Barnardo’s – Cygnet and Siblings programmes plus Puberty, Sex and Relationships
- Social Skills Institute – Secret Agent Society
- CUES Coping with Uncertainty in Everyday Situations
I enjoy working with young people with ASD and their families to help develop strategies to maximise their strengths and support them in reducing the impact of social communication difficulties.
